Why switch from toxic sunscreens? Many conventional sunscreens contain chemicals that can penetrate the skin and negatively impact your health. Instead, I advocate for mindful sun exposure, proper clothing, and healthier alternatives. While I can’t legally specify the exact SPF of these products, you can expect at least SPF 30 from the zinc alone, with added protection up to SPF 50 from the red raspberry leaf and sunflower oil.
This sunscreen is made from red raspberry leaf oil, sunflower oil infused with rosemary herbs, non-nano zinc oxide, and shea butter.
It is safe for newborns and up, with no essential oils included.
The benefits of this sunscreen go beyond protection; it’s also healing and gentle on the skin. Shea butter provides a smooth application, and the sunscreen will be available in squeeze bottles. Sunflower oil, rich in vitamin E, absorbs UVB light and helps protect against photo-damage and photo-aging. Rosemary herbs can aid in defending against UV damage, while red raspberry leaf contains polyphenols that shield your skin from ultraviolet radiation. Zinc creates an invisible barrier on the skin to block most UV rays.
**Usage Instructions:**
- Apply 10-15 minutes before sun exposure.
- Reapply every 3 hours and after swimming.
- Practice good sun safety habits.
This formula is a 1:1 infusion, slightly more oil than 1:1, to ensure it blends smoothly and nourishes the skin without becoming overly greasy. In cooler temperatures, it may thicken, similar to Badger sunscreen, requiring a bit of effort to squeeze out. In warmer temperatures (85-90+ degrees), it may become more fluid, so you might need to adjust how you squeeze it out. For easier application, unscrew the top, squeeze gently, and use a finger to swipe along the edge.
Stay protected and enjoy your time in the sun!
